What to Expect
As a new client of ours, you can expect our full attention to you and your pet’s needs.
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted by our friendly receptionists who will first weigh your pet, and ensure we have the proper information. You will then be placed into a clean and disinfected examination room as soon as we have one available. *
Once in an exam room, your veterinarian or registered technician will take a history in the room. Currently, due to COVID restrictions, we will bring your pet to our treatment room to safely examine your pet. Once examined we will return to the room to discuss our findings, answer your questions and plan any further diagnostics or treatments that fit within your individual budget. Please see our financial options page to review available options for financial support. Our receptionist will then handle billing and schedule any needed follow up.
*Please be aware that it is our goal to see all of our clients and patients on time; However, there will be times where the unexpected emergencies will create delays. We try to ensure that these delays are minimized as much as possible and thank you for your patience during these times. Should there be a delay, we provide coffee and tea in our reception area and you may browse our retail area while you wait. We also will try to contact you in advanced should a large delay be expected.
We are excited to meet you and your animal family members and are happy to answer any questions you may have about veterinary care, or about our clinics here in Central Alberta!
Elective Surgeries
We know surgeries can be stressful for pets and pet parents, but you can rest easy: Our highly-skilled, caring team go above and beyond to ensure your pet is carefully monitored and comfortable throughout the process.
Arrival time for our elective surgeries is 8:30 am the day of the procedure, unless otherwise directed*. Our skilled registered veterinary technicians will meet with you to go over our surgical input questionnaire and consent form. This can take up to 10-20 minutes of your time so please plan your morning accordingly! This is to ensure there is no questions or concerns prior to surgery.
Our veterinary team always takes precautions to ensure that your pet receives as safe of anesthetic as possible. We perform a physical exam and pre-anesthetic testing before surgery, monitor your pet carefully during surgery and provide pain medication during recovery.
Once surgery is complete, your surgical technician will call you to schedule a discharge time. Please ensure we have your current phone number for this reason. At the time of discharge, your surgical technician and/or veterinarian will explain homecare and medications and answer any questions you may have.
*Please ensure your pet does not have food the morning of surgery, with the exception of our Rabbit friends. Free choice water for all of our pre-operative patients is acceptable unless otherwise directed. Please call us with any questions or concerns prior to your animal’s surgery date.
We are excited to meet you and your animal family members and are happy to answer any questions you may have about veterinary care, or about our clinics here in Central Alberta!
