Our veterinarians and staff are passionate about the health of our community’s
pets and livestock. We are a well-rounded team that prioritizes keeping up with
the latest trends in the industry, while balancing those trends with knowledge
achieved through years of experience. Each of our veterinarians has a key area of
interest to ensure we can provide the best care for your individual pet or

Dr. Hans Reimert

Full-Time Veterinarian and Co-owner

Hans Reimert was born and raised on a dairy farm west of Bowden. His interest in the dairy industry led him to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. After graduation he returned to the central Alberta region to provide veterinary care to both large and small animals with a strong interest in Dairy herd health and other bovine work. Along with bovine work, business ownership remained a strong interest for Hans which led to the recent co-ownership of Pioneer Veterinary Services and associated clinics operating within the Sundre and Olds region. Although he currently spends the majority of his time on the road with his herd health work, Hans looks forward to meeting more of the community in the years to come.

Outside of work, Hans enjoys helping on the family farm, golfing as well as a variety of outdoor activities with Haley and their dogs, Koda and Winnie.

Dr. Haley Safnuk

Full-Time Veterinarian and Co-owner

Haley was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where she was an active member of a local Light Horse 4-H club for over 10 years. Her interest in horses led her to pursue a degree at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Following graduation, she elected to further her education by completing an Equine Internship in Arizona, focused on sport horse and race track medicine. Since completion she has joined Hans to practice in Central Alberta. Haley is a Co-Owner, along with Hans Reimert, of Pioneer Veterinary Services and associated clinics. She enjoys both small animal and equine work and is a certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist.
She enjoys providing compassionate veterinary care with an emphasis on communication and client education. Haley is looking forward to meeting more members of the community.

Between reading business management books, Haley enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and canoeing with Hans and their two dogs, Koda and Winnie. She also hopes to find time to get back on a horse one day soon.

Dr. Fiona Hooch-Antink

Full-Time Veterinarian

Fiona was born in Rossland, BC on a dairy farm. At the age of 9, they moved to Sundre, AB where Fiona was a member of the Bergen 4-H club for 6 years where she had many beef projects and also had canine projects for 2 years with her Red Heeler, Lucy. Her family also ran a Katahdin sheep farm. Her love for all shapes and sizes of animals began at a very early age and led her to begin education at Mount Royal University, majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology, with her end goal always being Vet Med. After three years at MRU, she was accepted to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2015, graduating in 2019. Following graduation, Fiona returned to her home town of Sundre to begin pursuing her career at Pioneer Veterinary Services! Fiona’s passions include cats, cows, and small ruminants – but all animals have a special place in her heart. Outside of work, Fiona enjoys playing golf, horseback riding, reading books, and spending time with family and friends

Dr. Paul Owen

Part-Time Veterinarian

Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Paul has been practicing mixed animal medicine in central Alberta since his graduation from WCVM in 1985. Paul is known for his attention to detail, meticulous nature, and compassion. His primary interests include small animal medicine and surgery. Continued education is a priority for Dr. Owen, who frequently attends specialized lectures and labs to continue to provide up to date, high quality veterinary care out of our Olds location (Olds Pioneer Veterinary Services). When not working, Paul enjoys spending quality time with his three grown sons Joel, Luke and Liam. He is also an avid hiker, golfer and tennis player

Dr. Lisa Misener

Full-Time Veterinarian

Lisa graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, and after spending a year working and travelling in Australia, returned home to settle into mixed animal practice. Lisa enjoys every facet of veterinary medicine, but has a primary focus in small animal dentistry, surgery and ultrasound, as well as a keen interest in small ruminants and camelids. Although her passion for animal health and welfare led her to become a vet, she loves the team she works with and the clients she interacts with – they make every day special! In her spare time Lisa enjoys yoga, snowboarding, cooking, reading, or any excuse to be outdoors. She lives in Old’s with her spouse, Joedy, and their 2 cats and dogs.

Dr. Kelby Tannas

Full-Time Veterinarian

Kelby was born and raised on a mixed cow-calf and hay farm west of Cremona, where he participated in beef and equine 4-H for 9 years. Kelby grew up riding horses on the farm, the mountains and in the show ring trying most disciplines along the way before finding his main interest of breeding and showing draft horses. After graduating from The University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest in 2021 Kelby completed a 1 year equine internship at Delaney Veterinay services, an equine referral clinic where he learned many aspects of equine medicine from breeding, surgery, lameness, dentistry and performance. Although his main interest is with horses and cattle, all critters large and small are welcome.

Outside of work Kelby enjoys driving his team of percheron mares, riding in the mountains, camping, fishing, and working on the family farm.

Dr. Brennan Munro

Full-Time Veterinarian

Dr. Brennan Munro was raised on a commercial Beef and Sheep farm near Airdrie where she was an active member in 4-H for several years. After graduating high school, Brennan went on to university and obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2021 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. After spending a few years working in Northern B.C, Brennan has moved to the Olds/Sundre area to practice. She enjoys many aspects of mixed practice including surgery, pathology, emergency medicine and more! Outside of work, Brennan enjoys visiting the family farm, spending time outside and traveling.

Dr. Shane Bosomworth

Full-Time Veterinarian

Dr. Shane Bosomworth is proud to serve the community he calls home. Raised in Carstairs, Alberta, Shane has deep roots in the local area and a strong connection to rural life. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM), where he developed a well-rounded foundation in both large and small animal care. His approach to veterinary medicine is rooted in compassion, teamwork, and practical, evidence-based care—whether he’s in the clinic or out on farm calls. When he’s not caring for animals, Shane enjoys staying active and connected to the community. He spends his free time playing hockey and basketball, and he’s always ready to pitch in on the family farm. Alongside his wife, Nicole, Shane is thrilled to be building his veterinary career close to home and looks forward to developing lasting relationships with clients and their beloved animals.

Bronte

Receptionist

 After moving to the Sundre area, Bronte quickly fell in love with the community, its people, and all their furry companions. She’s been a proud member of the Pioneer team since 2022 and is a familiar, friendly face at the front desk, always ready with a warm smile and a good laugh.

At home, she shares life with her beloved dog Bear and her mischievous cat Max. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll likely find her outside fishing, gardening, or cooking up something delicious. She also brings her creative energy to Pioneer’s social media and event planning. Her love for both animals and people shines through in everything she does, and she’s grateful to be putting down roots in such a welcoming and vibrant community.

Marian

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Originally from the Sundre area, Marian is a 1987 graduate of the Olds College Animal Health Technology program. Joining Pioneer Vet in spring of 2018, Marian has used her invaluable experience to take on a mentor-ship role within the clinic. As a long time resident of the Sundre area, Marian may be a familiar face to you. Along with her husband Bryan, Marian enjoys spending time with her four daughters and grandkids on their farm in Bergen. She loves all her animals, which include cows, horses, cats and their dog Dottie. Her favorite pastime is riding in the mountains, hiking and quading with her husband.

Erin

Receptionist

Erin joined the Pioneer team shortly after completing the Veterinary Medical Reception program at the Olds College in June 2021.  She brings with her years of previous professional experience which has greatly helped her transition into the reception position in the Olds location. 

She grew up on a small family farm near Kathyrn, Alberta and has called the Sundre, Olds area home for 25 years.  In her spare time she enjoys quadding, camping and horseback riding with her family and friends.  

Erin’s love of animals is very apparent in her lifestyle and shines through with her compassion and empathy for our clients and patients.

Marcy

Receptionist

Marcy joined the Pioneer team in March 2023 and has always had a love for animals. Working with such a close-knit professional team, getting to know our amazing clients and seeing the patients we care for daily, is what she takes pride in and enjoys.  She not only brings with her previous office and financial experience, but also extensive hours volunteering within the Olds community.  Olds has been home to Marcy and her family for over 23 years. Hiking, golfing and spending time at their RV, paddleboarding on the lake, is her life outside of the clinic!

Emily

Receptionist

Emily has been part of the veterinary industry for over eight years, starting her journey in Calgary before making her way to our Sundre location. With a warm, welcoming presence and a deep understanding of client care, she plays a key role in supporting both our team and the clients who walk through our doors. Now settled in the Sundre area for over two years, Emily brings not only experience but also a genuine love for animals and the people who care for them. As a mother to three young children, she balances a busy family life with her commitment to the clinic and community. At home, Emily enjoys the simple things—gardening, spending time outdoors, and hiking with her family. She’s also a lifelong animal lover and shares her home with two unique and energetic hairless cats. Whether it’s helping clients at the front desk or chatting about pets and plants, Emily brings a calm, friendly energy to every interaction.

Janelle

Janelle was born and raised in Airdrie but has been part of the Olds community since 2021 and joined the PVS team in 2024 . Her love for animals has always been a big part of her life. Being able to support pet owners and help care for animals has been incredibly rewarding for Janelle. She is passionate about being an active part of my community, and enjoys engaging with people and providing exceptional customer service. Outside of work, you will find her outdoors and connecting with nature.

Ute

Receptionist

Originally from southern Germany, Ute moved to Canada in 1988 and has always had a passion for animals. Ute has been around horses for over 45 years, enjoying both English and Western riding. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, which includes her two daughters and four grandchildren. Ute resides in Carstairs and also enjoys camping, reading, and exploring the outdoors

Emerson

Technical Assistant

Emerson was born and raised in the Sundre area. Growing up in the country, Emerson developed a love for animals both big and small with a special fondness for horses. She joined the Pioneer Vet team at age 15 and is now a certified veterinary technical assistant. Known for her positive attitude and creative approach to work, Emerson is dedicated to providing top notch care for every animal that comes through the door. In her free time, she enjoys dirt biking, horseback riding, and spending quality time with her dogs and friends.

Sam

Technical Assistant

Sam brings a lifelong passion for agriculture and animal care to the Pioneer Veterinary Services team. Raised on a farm north of Edmonton, she grew up immersed in farming, ranching, and cattle—interests that remain close to her heart. In 2018, she and her family relocated to Bergen, where they now run their own family farm.Sam is a dedicated and down-to-earth member of our Sundre team, known for her strong work ethic and deep love for cattle. Whether helping in the clinic or assisting in the field, she’s always ready to lend a hand. Ask her what animal she loves most, and she’ll tell you without hesitation: Cows are life. Outside of work, Sam enjoys camping, quadding in the West Country, and cooking traditional Polish food. She also dotes on her three barn cats—Bugsy, Hazel, and Yappy—who bring plenty of personality to the farm

Lakyn

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Lakyn was born & raised in Rocky Mountain House, AB. From a young age, she’s had a passion for horses & spends most of her time outside of work riding her gelding, Tempo the Tank. She graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in October 2019 & joined our practice in November 2019. She has since enjoyed expanding her bovine knowledge & experience including completing a course for bovine pregnancy detection via ultrasound.

Danielle

Manager/ Registered Veterinary Technologist

Danielle grew up on a mixed beef farm outside of Innisfail. She graduated from the Animal Health Technologist program at Olds College in 2014 and joined the Olds Pioneer Vet family in 2020. She enjoys curling, skiing, golfing, and hiking in her spare time. At home, Danielle has two dogs (Kasey and Keira) and two cats (Moo Moo and Holly)

J’Lyn

Registered Veterinary Technologist

J’Lyn was born and raised on the family farm just west of Bowden, AB. From a young age J’Lyn divided her time between farm duties and playing hockey. Living on the family farm instilled within her a deep-seated love for animals and led her to study at Lakeland College where she got her diploma in their Animal Health Technology program. Moving forward, J’Lyn hopes to specialize in large animal medicine, focusing on beef cattle. She hopes that this specialization will allow her to become more effective as a tech and allow her to apply this knowledge to her own cattle at home. In her spare time J’Lyn also enjoys horseback riding, camping, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Aislinn

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Aislinn was born and raised outside of Courtenay, BC on a small hobby farm. From a very young age she was exposed to a variety of animals and learned to care for animals of all shapes and sizes. Seeing sick animals inspired her to find a way to help them. In 2022, Aislinn moved to Olds to attend the Animal Health Technology course at Olds College. Upon graduation, she was happy to pursue a career at Pioneer Veterinary Services in Olds. Aislinn has a particular interest in anesthesia, critical care and furthering her knowledge on various diseases. In her spare time, Aislinn enjoys spending time with her husband, Gavin in the mountains or visiting her family and friends!

Andreanne

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Andreanne, fondly known as Andie, graduated from Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe in 2015 with a diploma in Animal Health Technology. With a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, she dedicated the first nine years of her career to bovine reproduction, developing a deep expertise in large animal care and herd health management. In June 2024, Andie joined the Pioneer Veterinary Services team, excited to expand her professional horizons by working with a variety of species and gaining hands-on experience in small animal medicine. Andie brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and a calm presence to every patient interaction. Outside the clinic, she finds joy in the great outdoors and can often be found hiking and exploring nature. At home, she is a devoted pet parent to two beloved cats—and, in true Andie fashion, a cherished cow.

Ashley

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Ashley was born and raised in Carstairs, Alberta. From a very young age, she had a passion for animals of any size, big or small. She graduated from the AHT program at Olds college in 2021 and joined our practice in August 2023. In her journey of working as a technician she grew a passion for small animal dentistry, and the ability to improve an animal’s health and wellbeing, starting with simply cleaning teeth and all that dentistry has to offer.

Julia

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Julia Binsted graduated from Olds College in 2024 and is a proud Albertan who is passionate about working with both companion animals and livestock, especially sheep! Outside of work, you can find Julia spending time with family and friends, enjoying the great outdoors while camping, hiking, and fishing. At home, she shares her life with two dogs, Buddy and Brody, who keep her on her toes and remind her every day why she loves this profession. Julia is looking forward to providing the best care possible and building great relationships with our clients and their furry friends!

Mollie

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Mollie grew up in southern Alberta with a love for the ranch lifestyle and always knew she’d work with animals. She earned her Animal Health Technology diploma from Olds College in 2023 and also holds a certification in equine sports therapy—helping horses perform at their best. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll find her on the road at barrel races, rodeos, or hanging out with her family, friends, and four-legged crew. Since joining Pioneer in 2024, she’s embraced every part of her role, especially farm calls, equine cases, emergencies, and small animal dentistry.
